Whelp, that's it folks. I'm sunk. Buying book three...uhh...now!! This is book 2 of the River of Time series by Lisa Bergren. (Still haven't figured out the title...but who cares?!)The sequel was packed with just as much danger and intrigue as the previous book, and actually drew me in even more! By now, I had a pretty solid grip on the senior MCs and was quickly adjusting to the juniors. Truly, I think I enjoyed this ride more than the first, but perhaps just because everything is already set in motion and I have a solid footing in the plot, the characters, and the world. I'm already dying for book 3. Of course, it doesn't help that I thought I had more chapters to read and then, nope fooled ya...extras. I swear, I don't think I've ever been more disappointed to see the extra content, which I normally love.
Just as before, the book was well-written (and nothing pulled me out of the groove this time. I didn't see any boo-boos at all), the characters positively charming (and some really sweet minor characters that have me hoping against hope that I'll see again!), the world fan-freaking-tastic (makes me want to go there! I loved the little bit of Italy I've seen and I definitely want more!), and the plot as engrossing as ever before. I'm hanging on a thread here! Two-day shipping better hurry up!
Minor violence, tactfully handled. Super-sweet romance, nothing worse than a few stolen kisses (medieval peeps were pretty chill XD). And no swearing. There was a scene where some...lustful implications were made, but it was brief and not detailed in any way whatsoever, again, very tactfully handled.

Cascade A Novel River of Time Series Lisa T Bergren Books Reviews
I was so hooked on this series by the time I finished book 2 ... I have ALL of them downloaded so I don't have to wait. Fantastically written (there are some editing problems, but I have been too interested in the next twist of fate for the She-Wolves that I have ignored them). I downloaded the first two books because they were 99-cents, not paying attention to the fact they are in the YA category. But I love the way the writer has kept the main characters real, while they are definitely maturing much faster than they would have in their own time. I am glad that I can share these stories with my teenage granddaughter, and hopefully help her to gain a love for books as well.
Just finished book #2 Gabi and Lia have returned bringing their mother with them. Love has strengthened between Gabi and Marcello, Lia and Luca, the girls cannot imagine life without their knights. Their mother approves but wants to use the time tunnel to rescue their father who was killed in an accident several months before the story began. The girls agree to try. In the meantime battles are spreading across the country side. Castle Forelli is under attack and there is a price on the girls. The enemy has given them a name 'The She Wolves' and are determined to see them dead. Marcello and Luca are equally determined to to keep them safe but we know how that works, where you go I go. It's a strange world where girls their age are already women, have children, don't wear skinny jeans, date, go to college, definitely don't fight and are never heroes.
I have fallen in love with this series. In the matter of two days I’ve read the first three books, and I am seriously dismayed by the fact that I do not yet own the last two books in the series. It’s that good. Don’t get me wrong, there are problems held within this book. The editing wasn’t done as well as it could have… there are punctuation/capitalization errors, and quite a few historical “facts” that are simply not accurate. That being said, this is a YA novel, and I’m willing to give it some leeway—because after all, it is fictional. Despite these little tidbits of error that often induce teeth-grinding on my part, the novel is will written. The narrative is incredibly engaging, well paced, and does what the narrative of a good book should do it disappears into the background. I felt sucked in, and it wasn’t until I saw the tell-tale glimpse of the last paragraph that I came up for air. I did not want my foray into Ms. Bergren’s world to end.
Like it’s predecessor, Cascade was filled with daring escapes, heart wrenching tragedy, heart warming romance, and jaw-dropping battles. There was so much conflict and thrilling adventure contained within its pages that it felt like I hardly had a chance to breathe… and I loved every minute of it. The characters of this series are so well-voiced that I can’t help but feel that I too am one of their comrades at arms. In so many books I read it is impossible to tell one character from another. Often, I can’t even keep track of which character belongs to which name… there was none of that here. Each character is an individual and full of personality and depth. The world building was rich and vibrant, and contained an ever-present edge of danger that made me feel like I couldn’t let my guard down. Even when it seemed like things were going well, I knew that the well-won peace for the characters would soon come to an end.
This is a fantastic series for young adults, and I’m personally going to induct the entire series onto my to-keep shelf. I would happily recommend it to anyone who enjoys YA fiction. There is a lot of blood, gore, and war in it’s pages, but romance-wise, the story is clean. I believe the more mature elements of the story were respectfully done, and I wouldn’t have a problem recommending it to any young teen. This is a strong second book, and I can’t wait to finish the series!
